The Cotton India Buying Guide

Sarees, kurtis and suit sets can look similar in a thumbnail and feel completely different on. Here's what actually matters — fabric, fit and print — written the way we'd explain it if you walked into our Bangalore store.

Hand block-printed, not screen-printed

Every print passes through a hand-carved wooden block, so no two lengths are pixel-identical. That's not a defect — it's the whole point.

Naturally dyed cotton

Colour comes from natural dye baths, not synthetic pigment. It can release a trace of colour in the first 2–3 washes — that settles, and it's normal.

A real store behind the website

Everything here is also on the rack in Bangalore (560100). If a colour or drape is hard to judge on screen, come feel it before you buy.

Made for the daughter and the mother

We stock the styles your grandmother trusted alongside cuts built for everyday, not just occasion wear — so one order can work for the whole family.

Fabrics: what's actually right for you

Fabric decides how a piece feels against the skin and how it holds up wash after wash — it's worth choosing on purpose.

FabricBest forWhy it works
Pure CottonEveryday wear, Bangalore's climateBreathable, low-maintenance, and where our hand block-print looks its best.
Cotton-SilkSemi-festive, day-to-eveningA softer drape than pure cotton with a bit more sheen, without going fully formal.
GeorgetteParty wear, Anarkali gownsLight and flowing — the fabric our embellished and sequinned pieces are built on.
Silk-Blend JacquardWeddings, festive suit setsA woven-in pattern and natural sheen that reads dressy without heavy embroidery.
SilkBig occasionsOur woven zari-border sarees are silk — rich texture, made to be worn for hours.

Sarees, kurtis & suit sets — the difference, simply

"Which one should I get?" is the question we hear most in-store. Here's the honest, no-jargon answer.

Sarees

Unstitched and endlessly re-wearable. Our edit runs from woven zari-border silk for weddings to sequinned, pre-draped saree-and-sharara sets for anyone who wants the saree look without the draping time.

Kurtis & Co-ord Sets

Our everyday backbone — cotton kurta, pants and dupatta as a 3-piece set, block-printed or bandhani-print. Straight-cut styles are the most forgiving on any body type; jacquard and embroidered versions dress the same silhouette up for evening.

Suit Sets & Anarkali Gowns

Fitted through the top, dramatically flared below — built for sangeets, Diwali and weddings. Georgette and jacquard versions with sequin or thread embroidery sit at the festive end of our collection.

Prints & patterns, straight from the block

How to style it — everyday to festive

Casual, everyday

Cotton straight kurta + leggings or straight pants + minimal jewellery. Let the block print do the talking.

Office & daytime

A solid or subtly printed cotton kurta set, paired with your own tailored trousers if you'd rather skip the matching pants.

Festive & occasion

Georgette or jacquard suit set / Anarkali gown, styled with statement jewellery — the piece is already doing most of the work.

Quick answers

Which fabric suits Bangalore's weather best?

Pure cotton, hands down — it's breathable and low-maintenance for daily wear. Cotton-silk is a good middle ground if you want a bit more drape for evening.

Will the colour or print match exactly what I see on screen?

Very closely, but not pixel-for-pixel. Since every length is hand block-printed and naturally dyed, small variations in placement and shade are part of the process, not a flaw.

I'm not sure which size to pick — what do I do?

Use the "Size guide" link on any product card as a starting point, then message us your bust/waist/hip measurements on the Contact page — we'll help you land on the right size before you order.
